On Thursday, October 1, Hastings Environmental Protectors and Dakota County volunteers converged in Hastings to install native plants at the Dakota County Government Center solar array.. Max Samuelson, from Dakota County Parks, explained planting procedures, the benefits of native plants, and the particular challenges of planting in shade beneath solar panels and in full sun between panels. Our work followed the planting efforts of Hastings High School wildlife biology students earlier that day.
